Datsun Relaunch - First Sketches Revealed

It's been 32 years since the Datsun brand was wound down, having created such JDM legends as the 240Z... but now they're back! And they've just released the initial sketches of their new car. The currently nameless hatchback is to be released into emerging markets such as India, Russia, Indonesia and South Africa for a bargain equivalent price of £3,300. The car will be powered by a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder engine and use a chassis believed to be smaller than the current Micra, with other models to follow.

So will we be blessed with a new bargain car in Europe? Well, no. Nissan and Renault have a gentleman's agreement and with Renault currently pushing the Dacia brand in Europe, there's not room for both. But there's always the option to import and it can only be a matter of time before sportier models start to be released. We will be keeping a close eye on the Datsun...
